RAD Data Communications Opens Melbourne OfficeNovember 4, 2003Will Serve Australia, New Zealand, Papua-New Guinea, Fiji and OceaniaRAD Data Communications has opened an office in Melbourne, Australia. The new office, RAD’s nineteenth internationally, will serve Australia, New Zealand, Papua-New Guinea, Fiji and the island nations of the South Pacific. “RAD products have been sold in Australia for many years through our distributor channels,” noted Dario Zipris, Vice President of Sales at RAD Data Communications. “We believe that in opening our own local office, therefore, we are demonstrating our commitment to the growing South Pacific market and our already large customer base in Australia and New Zealand,” he continued. “In spite of the current state of the telecommunications industry globally and in contrast to other companies that are closing overseas offices, RAD has not decided to curtail its growth, but rather to expand and invest in the future.” “Our objective will be to promote sales and develop business opportunities throughout the region,” stated Udi Furman, the newly appointed General Manager of RAD Australia. “This includes expanding our customer base, establishing new accounts and strengthening our relationship with our existing customers.” Solutions Save on Opex While Enabling New ServicesThese solutions are particularly tailored for vertical markets such as carriers, cellular operators, enterprise networks, utilities and public transportation, all of which can benefit from reduced operating costs. RAD’s Link Access line of Integrated Access Devices (IADs), to give but one example, assists incumbent and alternative carriers in expanding their offerings for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by enabling them to offer leased line services and voice over their existing DSL networks. RAD Technologies Well Suited to Oceania“The wide expanses of Australia, coupled with the thousands of islands spread out over the vastness of the South Pacific, represent a unique geography that is well served by RAD’s broad range of technologies for satellite communications,” Furman explained. This range of technologies includes RAD’s Compressed Voice System (CVS) and voice/data integration solutions such as the Megaplex family of Multiservice Access Multiplexers and Vmux Voice Trunking Gateways. The company also provides a complementary solution to extend the range of services that may be provided over a given wireless link, for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint topologies. Legacy Voice Over NGNsThe steady growth of IP networks and the availability of IP/Ethernet services have created a demand to integrate legacy telephony and leased line services over a packet switched backbone. RAD’s innovative TDM over IP (TDMoIP) technology, which it developed and introduced to the market, is uniquely suited to deliver such legacy services over next generation networks. Furman holds a BSc in electrical engineering and a Masters in Business Administration. He joined RAD Data Communications in 1994, serving as European Corporate Accounts Manager before being named Regional Sales Manager for Scandinavia, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 1999 he was promoted to Sales Director and his area of responsibility was widened to include the Middle East, Africa and Oceania.
