Alvarion partners with Paclink

Increased demand for Alvarion’s wireless broadband and WiMAX solutions by Australian public safety bodies as well as rural and urban communities

Alvarion’s Australian channel programme was established in September 2006 in response to increased interest from consultancies, systems integrators, VARs and distributors, all looking for cost-effective ways to build broadband networks in Australia.

Alvarion is the largest vendor of equipment for wireless broadband networks, providing solutions to carriers, ISPs and private network operators. At the moment there is particularly strong demand for broadband services in two Australian markets:

Public Safety

Police and emergency services such as ambulances and fire fighters are all looking for ways to improve communications while they are out in the field. Alvarion has designed a network especially to support mobile subscribers with secure, robust and reliable mobile access over metro or rural areas at a significantly lower investment than mesh systems. It is already used by the San Diego Police department as well as a host of other public safety bodies in the US.

Many Australian businesses and residential areas do not have access to broadband services. Networks built with Alvarion’s wireless broadband equipment are the fastest, least expensive, and most flexible way to cover the underserved areas of Australia, while meeting the rising demand for reliable broadband services in the country in general.

With limited initial capital required and low network operating costs—proportional to customer base and capacity— Alvarion’s wireless broadband systems are attractive as they enable operators to provide full broadband services without needing an expensive fiber or satellite network, or having to rely on the copper infrastructure of the incumbent operator. In addition, BWA allows them to reach areas not yet serviced by existing infrastructures, and once the network is established, to connect new customers within hours.

BWA networks are easy to upgrade, grow and expand. As BWA base stations all share the same frequency spectrum, if a base station needs more capacity, additional bandwidth is simply allocated on the backhaul link.
