This 19" Rack-Mountable device is a multiple-channel 100Base-TX/FX MediaConverter providing 12 independent conversion channels housed in a slim 1Uchassis. Each individual channel allows network extension over m/m fibre of2000m, up to 150 km (!) over s/m fibres. It is transparent to HDX/FDXtransmissions. Furthermore, it generates "FDX advertising" signals to force maximalperformance on other - even non managed - network elements, thus enhancingoverall network performance. The device is SNMP ready; it is supplied with themanagement interface included in it. All you need to turn it into a fully manageddevice is to insert the optional FNM1613 management module. This can be done inthe field, even without removing the F.CON12 from the rack. The FaultPropagation feature will disconnect the TP port (connected to a switch/router)once failure of the respective F/O port is detected to trigger initiation of aredundant path, while the link test capability allows easy maintenance. The FEF(Far End Fault Signaling) compatibility provides a true indication of the fibre linkintegrity. All 12 TP connections to the network switch or patch panel are done thrua "Telco" cable for easy installation and space saving. Special attention was given to allow easy installation and maintenance: redundantpower-supply, directly removable (hot-swap) power-supply, extensive front-paneldiagnostics and more. It is factory pre-configured and several F.CON12 devices canbe mixed and stacked to achieve the exact number of channels required whileoccupying minimal rack-space. The F.CON12/MA/TL is MA™ enabled: when managed (FNM1613 inserted) andremote unit is MA™ as well, it will fully control it without the need of an SNMPagent or IP address allocation at the remote unit. If non-managed or when remotedevice is not MA enabled, the F.CON12/MA/TL automatically falls-back to normalM/C function. |
