This device provides conversion from a copper(1000Base-T) interface to single-mode(1000Base-LX) or a multi-mode (1000Base-SX)link allowing its extension up to 80km. As mostof the GBE switches or NICs come with low costcopper (RJ-45) ports, combining such with theGSM1010 provides the most flexible and costeffective way to extend their reach over fibre. The heart of the GSM1010 is a powerfulconversion processor while link interfaces areimplemented by industry standard components.This design provides a reliable and steadyconversion, advanced control /diagnostic featuresand Management, while maintaining fullcompatibility with other vendors' standarddevices. The device generates "FDX advertising"signals on its copper port to ensure that theinterconnected device - even a non managedone - is set to Full Duplex - a critical mode inGBE. FibroLAN's unique Link Segmentation Test(LST) allows easy link segmentation (selectiveper port) to facilitate network diagnostics andovercomes the fault propagation which is inherentto GBE F/O links. A Loop-Back function on eachport simplifies troubleshooting of link problems.Each port provides separate Link and Activityindications for enhanced diagnostics. The GSM1010 is also available in SNMP managedversions as well as in MA™ versions, facilitatingits remote in-band management from a MetroStarsystem. The device is housed in a robust metalcase suitable for desktop, rack-shelf or wall-mountinstallation. It features an internal, wide-range,quality power supply for trouble free installationand reliable operation. The TP port features Auto-Cross and Auto-Polarity correction for troublefreeinstallation. DC powered versions (-48VDC)are available. The ETR (Extended TemperatureRange) option allows deployment in non-officeenvironments. |
