The ASM-45 high speed synchronous short range modem operates at baseband frequency for distances of up to 5.0 km (3.0 miles) at 128 kbps. High speed data is accepted at one of seven selectable bit rates: 64, 128, 192, 256, 384, 512 or 768 kbps. The data is transmitted transparently over 4-wire, using CDP modulation. Available digital interfaces include: V.24, V.35, V.36, X.21, RS-530, built-in Ethernet bridge or G.703 codirectional (64 kbps). Receive timing is recovered from the receive signal. Transmit timing is derived either internally from a crystal oscillator, externally from the digital interface or recovered from the receive signal. The ASM-45 features diagnostic capabilities complying with the V.54 standard to perform local and remote loopbacks. A built-in bit error rate tester (BERT), activated and monitored from the front panel, enables complete testing of both modems and the line. Indicators are located on the front panel for TD, RD, RTS, DCD, Test, Error and Power. The ASM-45 is available as a standalone unit or as a card for the 19" ASM-MN-214 rack.
