The FOM-4SF is a sync/async miniature fibre optic modem operating full or half duplex over a single fibre, enabling doubling of the fibre optic cable capacity. It has a range of 3 km (1.9 miles) over multimode fibre and 21 km (13.1 miles) over single mode fibre.The FOM-4SF supports six synchronous data rates up to 2.048 Mbps or asynchronous data up to 115.2 kbps. For added flexibility, it supports several digital interfaces including V.24, V.35, X.21, RS-530, E1 and T1.Two loops are available: local analog loop and remote digital loop. These are activated by a manual switch or through the DTE interface.Transmit timing is provided by one of three alternative sources: internal clock, loopback clock derived from the receive signal or external clock from the terminal. Only external clock mode is available for the E1/T1 interface.
