The ITA-703 is a rate and interface converter enabling low speed V.24/RS-232 equipment to be connected to a G.703 codirectional (64 kbps) interface. With the ITA-703, the PCM network can be used to transport a single low speed data channel. The rate conversion is performed according to ITU I.463 (V.110) and I.460 standards.Operating synchronously or asynchronously, the ITA-703 converts the V.24 rates up to 19.2 kbps.For async rates of 600 bps and higher, the async to sync conversion technique is ITU V.14- compatible. For async rates lower than 600 bps, the ITA-703 operates in synchronous mode at 19.2 kbps and performs oversampling of the data.The ITA-703 operates full duplex at a transmission rate of 64 kbps, with a range of up to 800 meters (0.5 miles) from the G.703 equipment.The unit features V.54 diagnostic capabilities for performing local loopback and remote digital loopback.The control signals RTS and DTR are passed end-to-end to DCD and DSR respectively, in compliance with ITU I.463 (V.110).The ITA-703 is available as a desktop unit or as a card for a 19" nest.
