The M-EFC and M-EFC/U are miniature units providing Ethernet-to-fibre conversion for local area networks. Both units can be used in full/half duplex links and take full advantage of the extended range achievable on full duplex links (limited only by media attenuation).The fibre optic cabling used by the M-EFC and M-EFC/U increases transmission ranges, improves network performance and achieves greater reliability. It also reduces susceptibility to electrical noise and radio interference, while increasing communication security by providing immunity to tapping and eavesdropping along exposed cable segments.The units convert between IEEE 802.3 electrical signals and optical signals for transmission over fibre optic cable. They are fully compatible with IEEE 802.3 10BaseFL and FOIRL standards.The M-EFC unit plugs directly into the DB-15 AUI interface or connects via an AUI cable and is powered via the AUI interface (12V).The M-EFC/U is connected via a UTP cable and is powered from an external power supply.
