The MBE10-8 supports remote access routing and bridging for connecting remote PCs and LANs to a central LAN over a wide variety of WAN interfaces and services including ISDN, Frame Relay and dial-up modems. Two models are available:- MBE10-8 for single WAN link routing/bridging applications- MBE10-8D for dual WAN link routing/bridging applications Each WAN link on the MBE10-8 can be individually configured as an IP, IPX or IP/IPX remote access router link or as a remote elementary bridging link. On the dual-port device, one link can provide automatic backup to the second link.IP can be routed over PPP, SLIP or CSLIP. IPX can be routed over PPP. Bridge links are transparent to Layer 3 protocols such as NetBIOS and DECnet. Router links can operate opposite any PPP standards-compliant device, including third-party routers and software-based PPP dialers. Transparent remote-to-remote forwarding enables direct data transfer between WAN links of any type. The interface types include integrated dual-port modules, ISDN modules, dual 4-wire modems, Frame Relay/X.25 interfaces and internal CSU/DSU units for 56 kbps leased line services.Solid Firewall and Single IP functionality - originally developed for the WEB RANger - are also available for the MBE10 devices, enabling simultaneous dial-in remote access and Internet/intranet access capabilities for small and medium-sized offices with the benefits of Private IP and session-based LAN protection.
