The SPD-T1/802 rate and interface converter converts any T1 (1.544 Mbps) frame into E1 format (2.048 Mbps), enabling T1 equipment to utilize E1 transmission media.The SPD-T1/802 is transparent to the T1 framing pattern. Line code is strap-selectable to either AMI or B8ZS.Jitter reduction on both the T1 side (compatible with PUB 62411) and E1 side (compatible with ITU G.823) guarantees smooth operation without timing or jitter-related errors. The transmit clocks are strap-selectable to provide solutions to any timing problems: transparent timing, loopback timing or internal clock.For applications where both sides cannot be synchronized to a single network clock, an independent elastic buffer is provided for each transmission direction.Diagnostic tests are supported by activating the T1 loopback towards the local DTE or the E1 loopback towards the remote DTE. Additional diagnostics are provided via the front panel indicators showing loss of signal condition, excessive bipolar violations, and AIS for the T1 and E1 links.The SPD-T1/802 is available as a standalone unit with hardware for mounting in a 19" rack.
