The hub accommodates up to 14 short range modems, fibre optic modems, network termination, and connecter cards. Cards can be removed or inserted during operation without interference to operation of other cards. The ASM-MN-214 hub for short range modems provides a cost effective and reliable concentration point for multiple baseband links supporting Last Mile or campus applications.

High density hub for short range modems

The ASM-MN-214 hub for short range modems accommodates two separate power supplies. Each power supply supports a full rack of any combination of cards. The power supplies can be either AC or DC and are suitable for power redundancy. Replacement during operation (hot-swapping) is possible, with no effect on the modems and their data transmission. Cards that are currently supported: ASM-10/8/R, ASM-31/R, ASM-40-1/R, SPD-703-1/R, STM-4/R, FOM-20/R, FOM-40/R, FOM-E1T1/R, FCD-2L/R, RIC-E1/R, RIC-T1/R. The ASM-MN-214 hub for short range modems has a terminal block for the line interface and a 25-pin connector for the digital interface. The terminal block is a snap-type connector for easy replacement. An optional mechanical adapter, the CIA, is used to convert the 25-pin connector to the required physical connector for either V.35 or X.21 interfaces.
