HTU-2 uses HDSL technology to extend the normal range of n x 64 kbps digital interfaces. It uses 2B1Q line coding, equalization, adaptive filtering and echo cancellation to compensate for line impairments, bridge taps and mixed cabling. This provides high immunity to background noise and enables transmission of multiple HDSL lines in the same physical cable. The HTU-2 extends the range of data transmission up to 4.8 km (3 miles) over a 24 AWG, 4-wire copper line and up to 9 km (5.6 miles) with a repeater. The HTU-2 supports priority bumping. This enables the user to choose which timeslots will remain active in case one of the pairs is lost. The digital interfaces supported are V.35, X.21, RS-530, V.36/RS-449, G.703 (2.048 Mbps), Ethernet via a built-in bridge with VLAN support or built-in router. The HTU-2 can work opposite the HTU-E1 for connectivity between digital interfaces at the customer premises and an E1 backbone at the central office. The HTU-2 can provide a remote power feed for an HDSL repeater or an HTU-2/P unit. For this option, a standalone HTU-2/PF should be ordered. An embedded management channel transmits remote control and diagnostic information simultaneously with no interference to the data flow. Monitoring, control and diagnostics of local and remote units are available via the front panel LCD display or via a supervisory port. The HTU-2 is available as a standalone unit or as a card for the LRS-24 19" rack with central SNMP management. It can also work opposite the DXC with DHL/E1/2W card or the Megaplex with HS-H2 or MHL-2E1/2T1 cards. |
