RAD's Model Descriptors allow integration of selected RAD's ATM access products into the Alcatel 5620 NMS system. The Alcatel 5620 NMS open architecture facilitates the integration of multi-vendor devices management. Using a descriptor, the service provider can manage provisioning of new nodes or modify and support existing ones.

The Alcatel 5620 NMS architecture facilitates the integration of multi-vendor device management. Employing Model Descriptors (MD), it can allow thirdparty SNMP network elements to be managed via the 5620 descriptor module, enabling end-to-end path management. RAD Model Descriptors feature the following applications: Navigate - facilitates auto-discovery and maps the node, slot, interface, and connection into the managed object hierarchy Draw - displays a visual image of the managed device Configure - provides forms to configure any object attributes in the managed device Monitor - monitors and reports the status of the managed objects. The RAD Model Descriptors extend the capabilities of the Alcatel 5620 NMS to manage RAD devices and provision end-to end services.
