Product SummaryRAD's RIC-155GE Gigabit Ethernet over STM-1/OC-3c network termination units (NTUs) bridge Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) LANs over an STM-1/OC-3c uplink, providing carriers and service providers with a migration path for connecting future-ready IP devices with GbE interfaces into existing SDH/SONET networks at 155 Mbps access rates. The features of RIC-155GE Gigabit Ethernet over STM-1/OC-3c NTU make it ideal for applications such as IP DSLAM backhaul, inter-POP connectivity and high bandwidth private line services. The RIC-155GE Gigabit Ethernet over STM-1/OC-3 NTU is part of RAD's suite of Ethernet access products. These enable Quality of Service over low and high-speed SDH/SONET and PDH circuits from fractional and full E1/T1, E3/T3 and STM-1/OC-3 circuits to Gigabit Ethernet. Benefits• Fast and easy deployment of Gigabit Ethernet services over STM-1/OC-3c lines• Enables service differentiation and QoS per application• Minimizes service disruption and reduces operating costs using sophisticated diagnostic tools• Small footprint Further Product InformationThe RIC-155GE is a network termination unit (NTU) providing simple, efficient and cost-effective bridging of Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) traffic over STM-1/OC-3c lines. It offers a migration path by connecting future-ready IP devices with 1 Gigabit uplinks into the existing SDH/SONET network at STM-1/OC-3c access rates. Typical applications include IP DSLAM backhaul, inter-POP connectivity or high bandwidth private line services. Using VLAN tagging and stacking, Ethernet traffic can be delivered transparently, keeping user VLAN settings intact Ethernet mapping and service prioritizationRIC-155GE Gigabit Ethernet over STM-1/OC-3 NTU maps Ethernet frames into four fixed priority egress queues on the network port based on VLAN priority tagging (802.1p). This enables prioritizing and differentiation between various user applications. Management optionsRADview-Lite, RAD's Web-based configuration and diagnostics tool, provides SNMP fault management including SNMP traps, status polling and TFTP-based software and configuration download. Remote element management is available either through the ConfiguRAD Web-based application or Telnet. RIC-155GE can be managed in-band either from the Fast Ethernet user port, the GbE port or remotely through the STM-1/OC-3c port. The device can also be managed out-of band via the craft port or a dedicated 10/100BaseT port. Management traffic and user Ethernet traffic are transported together on the same Ethernet flow, tagged by different VLANs. This provides complete separation between user traffic and the management traffic, ensuring management and user traffic security. The device collects statistics at the Ethernet physical layer and the STM-1/OC-3c interface frame counters. Interfaces and physicalRIC-155GE is equipped with either a 1000BaseSX/LX optical LC connector or a 1000BaseTX electrical Ethernet interface. The optical STM-1/OC-3c network interface includes single mode and multimode options. The RIC-155GE is a 1U-high, half 19-inch wide box with a rack-mount option. An NEBS level 3 compliant, 1U-high, 19-inch wide box, with AC or DC power supply redundancy, is also available. Connecting Gigabit Ethernet over STM-1/OC-3
