They enable fibre channel to be transported with high throughput and carrier-grade reliability over extended distances for business continuity and disaster recovery applications. FCS-155 and FCS-622 are customer-premises equipment (CPE) that connect to the existing SDH/SONET network. They support SDH/SONET standards of generic framing procedure (GFP), virtual concatenation (VCAT), and FC-BB and are compatible with existing OSS and network management systems. Typical applications include high speed synchronous or asynchronous backup, mirroring and data replication, as well as interconnection of SAN islands in multiple remote Metro sites. The FCS-155 and FCS-662 incorporate key functionalities, including rate limiting without packet loss, buffer credit flow control, and both SDH/SONET and fibre channel performance monitoring. Compact in size and consuming minimal power, the FCS-155 and FCS-622 are equipped with small form factor pluggable optics. FCS-155 and FCS-622 can be managed locally using a Web interface or remotely by an SNMP network management system.
