Voice Systems

In today's competitive environment, both carriers and enterprises are looking for ways to run their communications traffic with higher bandwidth efficiency.

Such efficiency can be achieved by using state-of-the-art voice compression algorithms that maintain toll quality voice, and by converging voice and data traffic over the same network links.

Network integration is the key to achieving maximum savings in the wide area network. Operators can save thousands of dollars a month by combining voice/fax capabilities with data traffic over analogue or digital data services instead of maintaining two separate network architectures.

Kilomux family

RAD's Kilomux is an integrating access multiplexer for data, voice, fax and LAN, targeted at the medium range of the TDM multiplexer market.

Kilomux integrates a variety of traffic types over leased lines, ISDN, IP and fractional E1/T1, over copper or fibre, at rates ranging from 9.6 kbps to 1,536 kbps.

I/O channels support a mix of:

  • Data: sync/async, low speed and high speed
  • Voice and fax: PCM, ADPCM, G.723.1, analogue and digital interfaces
  • LAN: integrated Ethernet router

Combining award-winning, high quality voice compression techniques with maximum bandwidth utilization and a wide range of network and user interfaces, the Kilomux provides reliable point-to-point and drop-and-insert data/voice integration solutions to companies all over the world at an affordable price.

Vmux family

The new Vmux family of digital voice trunking gateways is perfectly suited for today's changing network environment. The Vmux supports both traditional legacy networks and next generation packet-switched networks by running IP packets containing compressed voice over the network links.

State-of-the-art G.723.1, G.729A and G.711 compression algorithms can be used for optimal cost/performance.

Vmux supports voice activity detection and silence suppression for further minimization of bandwidth usage.

Vmux family supports sites with capacities ranging from fractional E1/T1 to a large number of E1 or T1 links (where any IP switch/router can serve as a grooming device). Low performance Ethernet links, such as Wireless Local Loop, are also supported.

MAXcess family

Integrated bandwidth managers dynamically allocate bandwidth according to the needs of each application (data, voice, fax, video, LAN, etc.). This results in minimal bandwidth waste and effective bandwidth utilization.

RAD's MAXcess family of integrated bandwidth managers can be used as Voice Frame Relay Access Devices (VFRADs) over public or private Frame Relay networks in order to guarantee high quality, low delay voice communications. The MAXcess units feature a built-in fragmentation and prioritization scheme, which assigns voice the highest priority level.

The MAXcess family supports high quality voice compression at rates as low as 5.1 kbps. Voice compression, together with silence suppression, allows relatively low speed leased lines, Frame Relay links or ISDN connections to carry a combination of voice and data sessions without compromising voice quality.

A combination of advanced features places MAXcess at the top of its class of voice and data FRADs. These include a flexible PBX-like dialing plan for voice switching, an integrated IP router and optional ISDN backup for mission-critical applications.
