Ethernet Access and LAN Connectivity

Ethernet has become a standard interface in many devices, replacing the traditional V24, X.21 or V.35 data interfaces, the need for remote connectivity among distributed computers and other Ethernet-ready appliances is on the rise. The new Ethernet network environment today may include small offices, classrooms, laboratories, and even residential homes or apartments. In addition to LAN connectivity, these networks require a simple hardware solution for connection to a wide area network. Because WAN access availability differs from place to place, this solution must be able to support different types of communication links, whether the application calls for transparent connectivity to a central or branch office or access to the Internet.

RAD’s remote connectivity solutions offer a range of products that provide users with the desired transparent connectivity, and their corporate network managers with the flexibility to choose the WAN services, port quantities and security features that best suit their applications.

Internet/intranet access

RAD’s expertise in LAN and WAN applications and in integrating voice and data enables the company to offer excellent solutions for a wide range of Internet access and corporate applications. RAD bridges and routers support different types of WAN services, including dial-up over synchronous or asynchronous lines, leased line services or Frame Relay.

Campus/factory connectivity

With the explosive growth of Internet/intranet applications, corporations are looking for simpler, more cost-effective ways of extending Ethernet and point-to-point connectivity in the corporate workplace. This is especially true for campus/factory environments. The versatile combination of WAN interfaces and ease of installation of the WEB RANger, and the miniature but powerful TinyBridge and TinyRouter, provide unique solutions for extending the corporate network to the entire workplace over both private and public infrastructures.

Management over extended Ethernet and IP networks

Management of networking devices over increasingly complex, heterogeneous environments has created challenges for carriers and corporate network managers, as well as for vendors of communications equipment. RAD’s unique combination of routing technology and RAD modem and E1/T1 technologies provides comprehensive support of Ethernet and IP to answer customers’ remote management needs. Plugging the TinyRouter into the Ethernet management port of any network device allows immediate remote access, over any available WAN service. This enables transparent management of the remote networking device, as if it were connected locally to the network.

LAN connectivity

RAD offers a range of Ethernet-to-fiber converters and continues to support legacy LAN protocols, such as Token Ring, extending the shelf life of older networking equipment.
